Yarn Fanatic Party #24

Welcome to the twenty-fourth Yarn Fanatic Party!

I really love looking through all of your projects every week!  Did you see Julie's Tea Cup Cozy?

Here's a bonus feature because it's particularly chilly this morning and this bright red hat by Silvia is just so cheery.

Alexandra and I both recently shared beanies on our blogs.  She shared newborn beanies and I shared a grown up beanie.  Be sure to check them out!

Have you entered the awesome yarn giveaway yet?  It's sponsored by Expression Fiber Arts and the yarn is truly scrumptious!

Enter to win a skein of Celestial 'Resilient' Superwash Merino Sock Yarn!

Details and Important Information: Must be 18+ to enter.  US only.  Void where prohibited.  Winner must respond to my email within 48 hours or a new winner will be chosen.  Social media is not affiliated with this giveaway.  Expression Fiber Arts is responsible for prize shipment and fulfillment.  Contact The Philosopher's Wife with any questions.

Time to party!
What have you created with yarn?  It could be something you crocheted, knitted, or anything that used yarn.  It can be a new project or an old one.  (I would appreciate it though if it had not been linked up to a previous Yarn Fanatic Party.)  I can't wait to see what you've created!

The only rule is that everything you link to must be family friendly.

I would appreciate it very much if you:
  • Add my Yarn Fanatic Party button to your post or party page.
  • The Philosopher's Wife
  • Follow The Philosopher's Wife and Eye Love Knots.
  • Check out some of the other yarn goodies people have finished.
  • Leave comments here, there, and everywhere.  (Please, take a moment to visit at least one other blog and leave a comment.  Personally I do a little happy dance every time I have a new comment -- and I bet that I'm not alone.  I try very hard to comment on everyone's posts . . . eventually.)
  • If you're not a blogger, but want to participate, feel free to upload a picture from Flicker!

Expression Fiber Arts Yarn Review

I received this yarn in exchange for my review.  As always, all opinions are entirely my own.

The base for this beautiful yarn is Expressions Fiber Art's signature, custom made, sock yarn.  The colorway is Celestial, which has silvery gray mingling with soft black, cool pink, and purple.  It's an all around beautiful yarn.

Basic details:
  • 4-ply
  • Fingering Weight
  • Superwash Merino Wool
  • Machine-washable (Hand-washing keeps your items looking the best the longest,
  • Yardage: 366 m/400 yd
  • Weight: 4 oz (approx. 113 g)
  • Recommended Knitting Needle Size: US 0-2
  • Recommended Crochet Hook Size B-E

After much deliberation I settled on knitting the Mont Royal Hat. I thought that this pattern would be a fun knit and would look nice with the colors of the yarn. So far this yarn is a dream to knit. It doesn't fray, split, or fuzz -- even with multiple froggings. (I might have had a difficult time joining without twisting . . . Sigh. Totally not the yarn's fault.) The dye is great, none of it has come off on my hands. (Which I have had happen with other hand-dyed yarns. Not fun.)

Would you like a skein of this yarn for yourself?  You're in luck!

US only.  Must be 18+.  Ends February 22, 2015.

Yarn Fanatic Party #23

Welcome to the twenty-third Yarn Fanatic Party!

How have you been?  Poor little Dominic caught the cold bug that's been going around.  Even with the sniffles he's a pretty chill little dude.  He can walk now!  He's been taking a few steps here and a few steps there, but over the weekend he walked across the living room and dining room repeatedly.  He's an early walker, just like his sister, at ten and a half months old.

In yarn news, I'm reviewing a beautiful skein from Expression Fiber Arts.  I have a hat on the needles for myself.  I did tell Catherine that she could share it with me sometimes, because she loves the yarn almost as much as I do!  (Below you can enter to win a skein for yourself!)

There were lots of great projects linked up last week!  One that especially caught my eye was Ionyka's First Baby Blanket.  I suppose I'm a sucker for a bright granny square.

Also, for a great v-stitch scarf, be sure to check out this post by my co-host, Alexandra.

Ready for a giveaway?  I'm super excited about this one!  (To be honest, I get pretty excited for all of the giveaways I host.)  Today's sponsor is Expression Fiber Arts.

The prize is a skein of Celestial 'Resilient' Superwash Merino Sock Yarn.
