WIPS: Sweater and Knitted Cable

Today on my needles I have my sweater and I also have my first knitted cable.  The sweater is coming along nicely, albeit slowly.  The braided cable is surprisingly simple!  Cables have intimidated me for a while, even though they are one of the main reasons I wanted to learn how to knit.  I finally decided to "just do it".  I had pinned this Braided Headband Pattern months ago and it looked easy enough so it has become my inaugural cable.

This past Friday and Saturday I crocheted a cute little hat that I can't wait to share with you.  It's a bulldog puppy.  (I was trying to follow a theme for a gift.)  I think it turned out pretty well.

I just finished reading Wicked, and gave my two cents, I'd love to hear your thoughts too!

As always, I will be sharing my Works In Progress at the following:

  1. Cables can be intimidating but it looks like you've mastered them beautifully.

  2. Looking great! Cables scared the heck out of me too. My friend made me put them in my first sweater and I though I would cry. I'm glad she did though - it boosted my confidence.

  3. The cable looks great. I felt intimidated by cables too, until I knit some cabled socks and realisedd that they are actually fairly straight-forward. What design is the sweater you are knitting - it looks really nice!

  4. I was so intimidated by cables for so long and then when I finally tried them I was so pleasantly surprised by how simple the concept is. Good job taking the plunge!!
