Disney Princess Bounding with Earrings from Amazon

This post contains affiliate links.
Have you heard of Disney Bounding?  Simply put, Disney Bounding is a way of dressing up as your favorite character without actually being in costume. You use regular everyday clothes and accessories.  These earrings, all from Amazon, are some great finishing touches for your Bounding outfits!

Belle needs a red rose, doesn't she?

Merida's a great shot with her bow and arrow.

Snow White shouldn't have taken a bite of that poisoned apple.
A pumpkin makes a magical carriage for Cinderella.

Watch out for that spinning wheel, Aurora!

Tiana wouldn't be complete without a frog.
Jasmine's best friend is a Tiger.
Obviously, Elsa's best accessory is snow.
These cherry blossoms show off Mulan's girly side.
Pocahontas wouldn't be complete without a feather or two.

If you are able to visit Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, make sure to check out my Scavenger Hunt!  It's lots of fun looking for all of the carefully placed details, it really does add another layer to your visit!

Rito Originals Opal Earrings Review

This is a sponsored post.  I received a pair of Opal Earrings in exchange for this review.  All opinions are entirely my own.

I was an October baby.  That makes opal, or pink tourmaline, my birthstone.  Most of the time all that you see is pink tourmaline.  As a kid I liked that, because I was especially fond of pink.  To be honest, I still am quite fond of pink.  As a grown up I have really grown to love opals.  They have such depth and character!  Sadly, most of the opal jewelry that I've come across simply hasn't been my style at all or was outrageously expensive.

When I was browsing through Rito Originals jewelry I was very excited to see these simulated opal studs.  A pair of opal earrings that I loved!  Even better, they were created by Amber, a trusted jewelry designer and maker.  (I already have a pair of her freshwater pearl earrings that I reviewed a couple of years ago.  Also, she has five star rating on Etsy with over 1,300 sales!)  I knew that these earrings would be a wonderful for me!

These dainty studs are so pretty!  Just look at all those subtle colors and sparkle.  The simple bezel setting is the perfect compliment to the opals.  I think that these will be great every day casual earrings, but would also look stunning with a more formal little black dress.  What would you pair with them?

I'm so happy that I've finally found a pair of opal earrings that I like!

Handmade Purple Dangle Earrings (With a Link to a Tutorial)

Lately my crafting endeavors have been pretty exclusive to knitting and crocheting.  (This is due to my never ending morning sickness, which hopefully will end in a few weeks when Baby is born!)  I made these purple dangle earrings before I was pregnant and never got around to sharing them with you!

For my tutorial on making earrings be sure to check out {this post}!

What I Wore Wednesday: 32 Weeks Pregnant

This post contains affiliate links.

I almost didn't do a What I Wore post today.  All of my maternity shirts are in the wash.  (Whoops.)  Baby Bumps somehow aren't quite as cute under "regular" clothing at 32 weeks, but then I realized I really did want to document this special time, so here's what I'm wearing!

  • Pink T-shirt: Who Knows Where? I've had it forever.
  • Button Down: Lands' End Canvas I actually purchased it from the "Not Quite Perfect" section and have yet to find anything wrong with it.  My only complaint is that it needs to be line dried.
  • Lounge Pants: Old Navy They are super comfortable.  I wear them around the house without any apologies.

Without further ado, here's the whole ensemble, Baby and all:

Even if you can't really see them in any of the pictures, I am wearing the same earrings as last week.  (I was looking for these this morning, but couldn't find them! Boo!)

I realized the other day that I should take advantage of wearing necklaces more before Porcupine arrives, so this is the one I'm wearing today.  I actually won it in a blog giveaway (more on that here).  It's from Designs by Tahra, an Etsy shop that I would definitely recommend!

I have to mention how much I am loving these boots!  Aren't they just adorable?  I've been wanting a pair of grey slouchy boots for a long time and these fit the bill perfectly.

What I Wore Wednesday: 30 Weeks Pregnant

I haven't done a WIWW in, well, a really, really, really long time!  I didn't do a Wordless Wednesday post this morning and for some reason a WIWW post seemed like a good idea.  (Why is Wednesday such a popular day for blog link ups?)  Of course, I'm 30 weeks pregnant and maybe it really isn't such a good idea . . .

So there's the obligatory terrible selfie shot.  I almost don't look pregnant there.  Here's a picture from last week to assure you that I am indeed very much with child.

Back to what I'm wearing today . . .   I really do love this scarf that I made.  However, I am considering turning it into an infinity scarf.  (Please, I'd love you to hear your opinion on that either here or where the conversation started!)  My thought is that I'd wear it more often as an infinity scarf.  What do you think?

I'm also wearing my earrings from One Artsy Mama, which I love.  (I reviewed them here.  You can buy them here.  Seriously, go buy them.  They're fun, they're bright, they're cute, and they're super reasonably priced.)

As far as clothing goes I am wearing a basic maternity tee from Walmart and black pants from Old Navy (they aren't quite yoga pants, but they aren't quite not yoga pants either).   Like I said, I'm 30 weeks pregnant, it's all about comfort.

Glitter and Glitz Earrings

All Amazon links are my affiliate links!

These earrings that I made with the supplies that Banglewood Crafts sent me for review are just too fun!  They dangle, they sparkle, they have glitz, and they have glamour!

What's my honest review in a nutshell?  Well, they are a blast!

I was a little undecided what I wanted to do with the earrings at first, I could stain them, paint them, I could even decoupage them.  In the end I fell for the glitz and glam of glitter.  I really wanted to pick up the Martha Stewart Neon Glitter Pack, but my thriftiness got the better of me and I settled for Walmart's cheapest neon glitter in stock.  (And yes, the cheap stuff works just fine!)  While there I picked up some good old fashioned Mod Podge too (although in this case Amazon's price was a tad better, but they change all of the time).

These are the "Before" earrings.  They really are a beautiful blank canvass!

The process was quite simple: a layer of Mod Podge then a layer of glitter until well coated.  It did take a while because I had to wait for the Mod Podge to dry.  Then I just added some wire and a shepherd's hook earring.

So, what do you think of them?  Need to get some for yourself?  You can get the wood blanks from their Etsy Shop {here}.

Red, White, and Blue Earrings

(All Amazon links are my affiliate links.)

Are you visiting from Sugar Bee Crafts?  (Thank you, Mandy, for hosting the Red, White, and Blue series!)  Welcome to everyone, I'm so excited to have you visit my little corner of the blog world!

Sugar Bee Crafts Red White Blue

These earrings are fun and festive, and super easy to make!  I used some of the cute thrifted beads (check out that post here!) I got from a while back and some pretty white shell beads (similar to these on Amazon).

These earrings are super simple to make!  Simply add whatever beads you are going to use to a head pin then make a loop at the top and add them to a simple hook earring.  For more detailed instructions, including how to craft with a toddler, check out this tutorial that I did a little while ago!

Blue Earrings

I've been a bit negligent in sharing my crafts lately.  Life has been busy (isn't it always?) but that certainly hasn't meant that I haven't done any crafting!

I don't believe that I've shared these pretty blue earring before today.  What do you think of them?  The round blue beads were thrifted  (like these) and the square glass beads were in a giant box of beads that I got on clearance at Michael's.

Making Earrings out of "Thrifted" Necklaces (A Tutorial)

I recently had a very successful trip to the thrift store.  While I was there I picked up a few necklaces that I didn't really like, but I thought that the beads had potential to be something awesome.

I had some fishhook earring finding on hand from a recent craft store trip, so when I got home from "thrifting" I was able to take apart the necklaces and start working.  (I love being able to work on a project while my inspiration is still fresh!)

I'm sure everyone has their own method for putting together jewelry, but here's what I do:

1. Try to find an activity that will hold Catherine's attention for a least a few minutes.  (She's two-and-a-half and very much at the "Whatcha doing, Mama?" stage.)

2. Get my materials out.  I find it very helpful to make sure that I have everything that I will need before I begin.  Once the beading box is open on the table I really can't leave it unattended.

3. Remind Catherine that she can't play with Mommy's toys right now, but maybe when she's older.

4. Lay out all of the beads and findings that I will need.  This eliminates last second scrambling, and also ensures that you do, indeed, have all of the pieces that you thought you did.

5. Respond to toddler's adamant statement of "I older now."

6. Put earring #1 together.  This is the easy part of the whole process!  Simply take your head pin and put your beads on.  Use rounded pliers to make a loop at the top of the pin for the actual earring.  Add the earring and then tighten the loop using regular pliers.  Easy peasy.

7. Get snack for toddler.  Again.

8. Put earring #2 together.  Same as the first.

9. Pick up container of  1,000 seed beads Catherine was using as a Montessori type work.  Hey, it kept her entertained, what can I say?

10. Sit back contentedly  because I just made a cute pair of earrings and Catherine finally got bored and is playing with her toys.

All of the earrings featured on this page featured a "thrifted" element.

If you like these earrings keep on eye on my Facebook page because I'm going to be having some "flash sales" on these!  (UPDATE: This one is over, but there will be more in the future!)

Works In Progress:
A Sampling of What I've Been Working On This Week

I've finally started to make some real progress on my Chevron Afghan!  I'm really happy how it's turning out.  This picture doesn't really do justice to the size--it's folded over on itself a bit here.

I've picked up a few pieces of fabric recently, some from the magical craft store and some from Wal-Mart.  I am thinking of using some of it with this pattern, Simplicity 2396, that I recently snagged for a buck!

Other than working on the Chevron Afghan and gathering sewing materials, I also have been making earrings this week!  I have one pair up for sale on Etsy and will be adding more later.  Here is a sampling of my work from my photo shoot:
